Let Me Tell You About Myself

I am a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience working in the private sector and with the Federal Government as a Program Manager developing and presenting Health and Wellness programs. Not only did I develop programs, I personally experienced the importance of eating a healthy diet along with getting a good night sleep, exercising, and reducing my stress level.

Several years ago, I thought I was living a healthy lifestyle since I was physically active and a long time vegetarian. Unfortunately, I developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and was later diagnosed with diabetes. To treat these chronic conditions my doctor wanted to prescribe medication, but at the time I declined because I wanted to do more research into healthy eating. After researching nutrition and various diets I concluded that a whole food plant-based diet would help my situation.
After changing to a plant-based diet, my blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar returned to normal range and as a bonus I lost over 20 pounds. This encouraged me to take additional training. I completed coursework in nutrition and received a certificate in Whole Food Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Nutrition Program at e-Cornell University. I also earned a certificate in Plant-Based Cooking from Forks Over Knives Cooking Program at the Rouxbe Online Culinary School. I am a Registered Nurse and have a BS Degree in Social Services from Troy University.

Because of my personal experience I am passionate about helping others lose weight, manage their medical conditions, and improve their overall health. For the past several years, I have been teaching individuals the importance of healthy eating by focusing on nutrient-dense foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. In addition I advocate being physically active, getting a good night's sleep, and decreasing stress for a healthier lifestyle.
